Ask HN: What made your startup fail?

Just wanted to pose this question to anyone who has the experience of starting up a startup/business from scratch or that worked in one for a longer time until it failed. In retrospect – what do you think was the most significant factor that made it fail? Bad market research? Wrong product design? Engineering failure at executing properly?
