Ask HN: Why is news about fusion ignition not a bigger deal in popular media?

It’s one of the most upvoted and discussed items I’ve ever seen on HN, and intuitively seems like a pretty big deal. But I’ve seen very limited coverage in popular media, mostly amounting to clever quips with sci-fi references. Is it not as big of a deal as I thought?
